A proper warehouse racking inspection should cover multiple areas, including:
- Beams and uprights: Check for bends, cracks, dents, or rust that may weaken structural integrity.
- Bracing and connectors: Ensure horizontal and diagonal braces are intact and not bent or missing. Loose or missing bolts should be replaced immediately.
- Base plates and anchor bolts: Confirm that racking footplates are securely anchored to the floor without signs of movement or cracks in the concrete.
- Load capacity labels: Ensure all racks have visible weight capacity labels and that they are not exceeded.
- Pallet positioning: Verify that pallets are correctly placed within racks and not overhanging excessively, which can create imbalance.
- Safety accessories: Check if safety clips, guards, and backstops are in place to prevent accidental dislodging of pallets or beams.
